SARAH PARKER – President

Sarah hails from a solid sales and client relations background.  Specifically, she has worked with fine dining establishments such as Revolution in Durham and managed everything from their public relations and menus to staffing.  Sarah’s unofficial title is our resident Solutionist, because she loves coming up with creative solutions to any challenges that may pop up.



CADY CHILDS – Events Manager

Cady comes from a highly experienced background in the service industry. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a focus in Journalism, she delved into the restaurant scene of the triangle in full force, working under culinary creatives such as Matt Kelly of Mateo Tapas for over three years. Her food and wine knowledge is ideal for guiding you through creating the perfect menu & pairings for your next event, no matter how small or large. She is our unofficial perfectionist in the group, and will work to make sure all our clients needs are met from start to finish of the coordination process.



Laureano has been cooking for 17 years, 14 of them with Durham Catering. With a career that includes experiences at Nana’s and Pop’s, Laureano’s commitment to quality was learned at the hand of some of the area’s very best chefs. Able to make practically anything, Laureano’s food is always made from scratch, and with lots of love.

Tom knew he wanted to be a caterer in high school. After a short career as an Army Ranger, Tom began cooking at major hotels in Texas and soon enrolled at The Culinary Institute of America in New York. Tom’s illustrious career has included working with Dean Fearing at Dallas’ Mansion on Turtle Creek, at Along Came Mary in Los Angeles, at Nana’s and Magnolia Grill in Durham, and with renowned chefs Thierry Rautureau and Jan Birnbaum in Seattle. Nana’s Scott Howell invited Tom back to Durham to be head chef at Pop’s in 1998. Several years later Howell helped Tom open Durham Catering, which allows Tom to pursue his lifelong passion of delivering incredible food to people in a creative and inspiring way.

Ever the entrepreneur, Tom has opened several successful businesses while at the helm of Durham Catering. He was a pioneer in the Triangle food truck scene with Only Burger (which he has since sold) and in 2012 opened Rise Biscuits and Donuts.
