How we roll

Over the last 15 years we’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t. Our menus (and our approach to catering in general) are a reflection of why we got into this business in the first place…to bring as much joy to our customers as possible. This means we offer only what we do best in order to ensure a happy outcome. It wasn’t always this way. In the beginning we tried to be all things to all people and we quickly learned that we can’t do it all. Over time we’ve narrowed our approach to minimize risks and our clients have loved the results. We don’t take every event that comes along. We offer menus that only feature food we love to prepare and that, equally importantly, we know holds up to the rigorous demands of catered events. At Durham Catering Co. it’s all about maximizing joy and minimizing risk, one incredible event at a time.

Planning your events

From your first inquiry with Durham Catering Company, our sales team will listen to your catering needs and then ask the right questions to ensure we’re preparing an appropriate menu for your event and budget.  For more involved occasions such as Rehearsal Dinners, Weddings or Bat Mitzvahs we enjoy meeting in person to gain a full sense of what your expectations and needs are. During our meetings we aim to talk about dining style, rentals and staffing needs so by the time you walk out the door you have a proposal in hand of what to expect for catering and rental needs.
Once you contract with Durham Catering Company we’ll stay in touch and be available to you for any questions or needs that might crop up throughout the planning process.

During your event

For events with service our staff members are top notch, treating your event as if it were their very own.
An event Captain is the logistical and managing leader from our staff.  He/she will receive all the details that have been discussed prior to your event and execute the set-up, beverages, and food service as planned. This is the main contact from our staff and will interface with you or your coordinator on the day of to ensure that we’re on point.

Service Staff

Service Staff: Service staff consists of friendly faces that really put your event into action. From arrival to departure these team members are physically managing your event. Setting up tables, chairs, linens, place settings, replenishing food, and ultimately keeping your guests full and happy. They also do the dirty work – like scraping dishes and hauling trash and handling spills. Imagine your very own team of plate clearing, drink re-filling, and food servicing ninjas!

Bartenders: Shaken or stirred – our bartenders will responsibly and professionally wet your whistle. A bartender will be in charge of expertly setting up a bar display at your event complete with glasses, ice and chilled beverages. Throughout your event he/she will efficiently provide your guests with a drink in a timely manner.
